Samples are the currency of contemporary music culture. They move through time occurring and reoccurring in infinite variations drawing a vibrant line between musical events of the past, and the vastly expressive movements of today. Music is the folkloric fabric of the invisible elements of our human lives, and samples make that fabric malleable in a unique way. Or, in a more acute sense, they're the instrument that many of today's musicians play.

As you've seen in Real to Reel no detail is overlooked in Linda's studio. As a result of that attention to detail she records incredibly rich sounds imbued with her unique sensibilities. For the first time ever she is making some of those sounds available for free. The sample kits are named in the tradition of Linda's infamous In Flight tour--in which she would come up with a different name for every stop. Check back new collections of sounds, and send us what you make with the samples. We'll post our favorite submissions here on the site. You can find all the details at the bottom of the page.
